about me

Hello, my name is Ricky, Rich, Ricardo, or Richard;

whichever name you recall first is what you can call me. I have been a photographer since 2013.

I never anticipated running a business with my photography because it began with humble origins. I bought a camera for my lovely wife when our first son was born. While she dabbled a bit in photography, she never fully embraced it. Over the years, we captured many wonderful photos, but a significant turning point occurred in March of 2022 when my wife developed a seizure disorder that robbed her of the ability to speak, walk, and function. With each seizure, fragments of her memories began to vanish. It was a terrifying experience. In response, I picked up the camera again, determined to capture as many moments as possible to preserve her memory. What started as a way to build memories for my wife and me blossomed into a genuine passion for photography. However, as my passion grew, so did her seizures. Eventually, I had to leave my high-paying job because it consumed too much time away from home, where my wife needed me the most. It was a sobering realization of how much time I had been spending away from my family.

Soon, the idea of establishing a photography business took root, driven by my desire to create a livelihood that would allow me to both pursue my passion and care for my wife. This simply wasn't feasible with a traditional 8 am to 8 pm job.

And so, M.A.D Photography was born, named after the initials of our son, evolving into the business I proudly run today: Simply Rich Photography.
